How to leave an OnlyFans agency without losing your account

Leaving an agency is a process, not an email. Do it in the right order and you walk away with your account, your content and your audience intact. Do it in the wrong order and you can lose all three.

In short

To leave an OnlyFans agency, read the termination clause first, then secure the account email, password and two-factor authentication on a device you control, export your fan list and content, recover every social handle, and only then send written notice within the agreed period. Keep copies of everything and change passwords the day the term ends.

Why the order matters

Most creators who get burned leaving an agency did not lose a legal fight. They sent the notice first, and by the time they went to change the password the agency had already changed it, or the recovery email was one the agency controlled. The whole point of this guide is sequencing: secure, document, then notify.

Nothing here is legal advice. It is the practical checklist we give creators who come to us mid-contract with another agency and want to know what to do first.

Step 1: Read the exit clause before you do anything

Pull up the agreement and find four things: the minimum term, the notice period, how notice must be delivered (email, registered letter, a specific address) and any fees or commission tails that survive termination. Write those four items on one page. Everything else you do is timed around them.

  • Minimum term: the date before which leaving may trigger a penalty.
  • Notice period: usually 30 to 90 days. Your effective end date is notice date plus this window.
  • Delivery method: if the contract says written notice to a specific email, a DM does not count.
  • Post-term obligations: commission tails, non-disparagement, return of materials. Note each one.

Step 2: Take back the keys quietly

Before any notice goes out, make sure you are the only person who can reset access to the OnlyFans account. This is the step that decides whether the rest goes smoothly.

  1. 01

Confirm the account email is yours

Open OnlyFans settings and check the email on file. If it is an address the agency created, change it to one you own. If you cannot, this becomes the first item in your notice.

  2. 02

Set two-factor authentication on your device

Enable 2FA using an authenticator app on your own phone. Remove any existing 2FA method you did not set up.

  3. 03

    Check payout details

Bank account and verification identity should be yours. If the payout goes anywhere else, fix it now and screenshot the confirmation.

  4. 04

Review active sessions and connected apps

Log out all sessions from settings. Revoke any third-party tools the agency connected for scheduling, analytics or chatting.

  5. 05

Do not change the password yet

Changing it while the agency still runs chat may violate the agreement mid-term. Change it the day the notice period ends, or immediately if you believe the account is at risk.

Step 3: Export what is yours

Your content and your audience are the two assets an agency cannot rebuild for you, and the two it is most tempted to hold on to. Get copies before the relationship turns cold.

Do this while you still have cooperative access. It gets harder after notice.

Link-in-bio and landing pagesThird-party link toolsTransfer ownership to your email or rebuild under your own account before you announce anything.
Scripts and persona docsAgency shared docsAsk for copies. They describe how your fans were spoken to and help the next team keep continuity.

Step 4: Send the notice properly

Keep it short, factual and dated. State that you are terminating the agreement in line with the clause you identified, name the effective end date, and list what you expect returned: credentials, content files, social recovery details, final reporting. Send it by the method the contract specifies and keep proof of delivery.

Do not argue in the notice. If there are disputes about money or performance, those are separate conversations. A clean notice is harder to contest than an angry one.

Step 5: Manage the handover period

During the notice window the agency may still be chatting and posting. Agree in writing on who does what until the end date, ask for a final report, and keep an eye on the account daily. Watch for unusual mass messages, price changes or promotions that look like a last-minute cash grab.

If you are moving to a new team, overlap is useful: the new chat team can read persona notes and top-fan history before the old team goes dark, so fans do not notice a change in tone.

Step 6: Lock everything on the end date

  • Change the OnlyFans password and re-check 2FA, email and payout details.
  • Change passwords and recovery details on every social account and link tool.
  • Revoke any remaining app access and shared folders.
  • Ask the agency to confirm in writing that it has deleted your content and stopped using your name and images.
  • Keep your agreement, notice and all confirmations in one folder for at least a year.

What to do if the agency will not let go

If an agency refuses to return credentials or keeps posting your content after the end date, escalate in steps. First, a written demand with a deadline. Second, OnlyFans support with proof of identity and ownership; the account is verified to your ID, not the agency's. Third, platform reports for any content still being used, and a lawyer if money is being withheld. Most agencies fold at step one because they know how step two ends.

You do not need permission to leave. You need your email, your 2FA and your files. Get those three, and the rest is paperwork.

Frequently asked questions

Can I leave an OnlyFans agency before the contract ends?
Usually yes, but read the termination clause first. Many agreements allow early exit with notice, some charge a fee, and some have no enforceable minimum at all. If the agency breached its own obligations, such as missing reports or unauthorized access, that often gives you grounds to exit without penalty.
What if the agency owns the email on my OnlyFans account?
Change it before you send notice if you can. If the agency controls the inbox and refuses, contact OnlyFans support with your ID; the account is verified to you, not to them. Then make the email change a written demand in your termination notice.
Will fans notice when I switch agencies?
They will notice a change in tone if the handover is abrupt. Ask the outgoing team for persona notes and top-fan history, give the new team a few days of overlap, and keep your posting cadence steady through the transition.
Does the agency get to keep my content after I leave?
Only if you signed a clause granting a perpetual or post-term license. A fair agreement ends the license at termination and requires deletion. Ask for written confirmation that your material has been removed from the agency's drives and schedulers.
Can I move straight to another agency?
Yes, unless your contract contains a non-compete, which is rare and hard to enforce for creators. Overlapping a few days between the old and new team makes for the smoothest switch, as long as the old agreement allows a second party to access the account.
